How do I start the right way?

BUILD is where development begins.
Habits. Structure. Discipline.
Learn what real training requires before pressure arrives.

FOUNDATION

M.E.R.I.T.S. at BUILD = Foundation.

Learn it before pressure tests it.

This is where it starts.

Most athletes skip this stage.
They jump straight into competition, exposure, and opportunity without the foundation that makes any of it stick.

BUILD exists for athletes who are ready to learn.
Not just train. Learn.

Structure. Discipline. Habits. Accountability.

These are not optional.
They are the foundation.
Every stage above this one depends on what gets built here.

Before athletes earn trust, they must build habits.

Foundation starts here.

At BUILD, athletes learn the habits that support every M.E.R.I.T.S. pillar.

Mindset — Learn how to think.
Effort — Learn how to work.
Responsibility — Learn how to prepare.
Integrity — Do things the right way.
Together — Learn how to contribute.
Self — Learn how to lead yourself.

Before pressure reveals preparation,
preparation must be built.

BUILD is for athletes who are ready to start right.

  • Beginner athletes learning what real development requires

  • Middle school and youth players building foundation

  • Athletes with habits that don't hold under pressure

  • Families new to structured athlete development

  • Athletes who want a real baseline before bigger stages

Choose your entry point.

Start here.
BUILD the right way.

Choose the entry point that matches where you are today.

Habits are built through discipline, structure, and consistency.
That is how foundation gets built.

BUILD is the beginning.
Not the destination.

Don't skip steps.

Athletes build habits first.
Trust is earned second.
Opportunity is navigated last.

Parents matter at BUILD.

Parent Clarity Starts Here.

Many families think development starts with more basketball games and some training.

It doesn't. It starts with habits.

Before confidence becomes consistent, structure has to exist.

Before accountability shows up in games, it has to exist at home.

Before athletes earn trust, they must learn responsibility.

Common Questions:

Is BUILD for beginners only?

BUILD is for any athlete who has not established consistent training habits yet. Age matters less than where the athlete actually is in their development.

What does my athlete actually do in BUILD sessions?

Every BUILD session teaches athletes how to train, move, compete, and receive coaching. The goal is not to make athletes look better in one session. The goal is to build habits that hold up when the level gets harder.

My athlete works hard. Why isn't it showing up in games?

Habits that aren't consistent under pressure haven't been built deeply enough yet.

Should we focus on confidence?

Confidence is often the result of preparation, structure, and repeated success.

How do I help without creating more pressure?

Support accountability. Avoid becoming a second coach.

How do I know if we're focusing on the right things?

Start with habits, structure, and responsibility before worrying about exposure or opportunity.

The BUILD Parent Companion was created to help families understand exactly what athletes are learning during the Foundation stage and how to support that growth at home.

The BUILD stage teaches athletes these foundations.

The challenge for families is knowing how to reinforce them outside the gym.

BUILD Habits Look Like...

Before athletes become skilled...

they become coachable.

BUILD athletes learn to:

  • Arrive ready to work.

  • Listen before responding.

  • Finish every drill.

  • Accept correction without frustration.

  • Move with purpose.

  • Encourage teammates.

  • Practice at game speed.

These aren't advanced skills. They're foundational habits. Every athlete who earns trust later starts here.

Most athletes who struggle later skipped this stage.
Start where development actually begins.

Everything above this stage depends on what gets built here
